The implementation in society of bio-based products will solve problems related to the disposal of solid waste and they could be reused at the end of their life cycle, ensuring full circularity.

We are part of the BIOMAC project, an initiative that is part of the framework of the European Commission’s H2020 programme, which seeks to promote the circular economy. The project’s main objective is to obtain nanomaterials of natural origin for use in applications aimed at the food packaging, automotive, construction and printed electronics sectors.

Pilot plants where materials will be processed on a small scale and then industrially validated will be designed. Eversia plays an important role by obtaining packaging films produced using PLA, a biodegradable polymer of natural origin that comes from one of the project’s pilot plants. Eversia will establish the material, process and product requirements for application, and will proceed to validate the scalability and adaptation for commercial use.

The BIOMAC consortium is made up of more than 30 partners from 12 countries. The European Commission is the funding body.
